'Running Fight'
The most celebrated of the highlanders' fights during the 8th CFW was the Battle of Kroomie Heights, in September 1851, where after beating off a heavy Xhosa attack, Lieutenant Colonel John Fordyce was obliged for want of adequate ammunition to withdraw his regiment to the low ground. The 74th again came under heavy Xhosa attack as it hastened downhill via a narrow trail through the forest. It was also thrown into confusion by the two Fingo companies operating in support,, which forced their way past the 74th from the rear of the column. This code 'Running Fight' is inspired by the events of that day, but as you can see the figures can just as readily be put to use in a great number of other scenarios. The set includes an officer and a sergeant, so is again ideal for acquiring at one fell swoop two Sharp Practice groups of 8 figs, with a leader apiece.
